Anti wrinkle injections (often referred to as Botox ®) are an effective treatment for reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles on your face. The Botox ® treatment is injected into specific muscles, causing them to relax, which in turn reduces their movement resulting in visibly less lines and wrinkles. If injected regularly, it can prevent lines etching deeper or new lines forming.
What areas can be treated?
The main areas for treatment are forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet. However, this treatment can also be used on the lower face to address upper lip lines, bunny lines, gummy smile, down-turned smile and chin dimpling.
We offer advanced techniques on the neckline which can reduce the appearance of jowls and create a more beautifully shaped jawline. Botox ® injections can also be used to slim the face shape or treat medical conditions such as teeth grinding or excessive perspiration.
What results should I expect?
You will start to notice the reduction of wrinkles after 1 week and his will gradually develop with the maximum benefits being achieved 2 weeks after treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Botox ® is generally a safe and well tolerated treatment, possible side affects include bruising and sensitivity at the point of application and a mild headache. These normally subside within 48hrs after treatment. Slight asymmetries occasionally occur which can often be easily addressed at a courtesy routine follow up. Specific side effects of different treatment areas are discussed in detail during the consent process for any procedure.
What are the aftercare steps for the treatment?
We provide you with an aftercare checklist that details all the measures you need to take after receiving your anti-wrinkle injections in order to maximise the benefits you see. The clinician providing your treatment will always ensure you have one.
Try to avoid excessively rubbing of the areas which have been injected for 4 hours after treatment. It is advisable to avoid excessive exercise, alcohol, saunas and sunbeds for 24 hours after treatment. Ideally avoid applying makeup over the treatment site for an hour unless it is mineral based.
